The sound of music is louder than ever at Chief Dan George Middle School, where the band program recently received an incredible boost. MusiCounts selected the school's music department to receive a $12,000 grant, enabling them to purchase new instruments and repair older ones, ensuring every student can fully participate in the joy of making music.

As summer winds down, it’s time to gear up for a healthy back-to-school season. Set the stage for a smooth transition back to school. Here are some practical tips to get you started.

Prioritize sleep

Ensuring your child gets enough sleep is an important part of a healthy back-to-school routine. Quality sleep helps with concentration, mood and overall well-being. In the weeks leading up to the start of school, gradually adjust your child’s sleep schedule so they can adapt to the new routine. Aim for nine to 11 hours of quality sleep per night.

As we approach the start of the new school year on September 3rd, the A51ºÚÁÏ District is excited to welcome over 20,000 students and nearly 3,000 dedicated staff members back to our schools.

A51ºÚÁÏ District's Summer School Programs Inspire Students and Staff

This summer, the A51ºÚÁÏ District's Summer School Programs provided a dynamic and enriching experience for students, staff, and families alike. From July 2nd to July 26th, our secondary and elementary programs were alive with the energy of hands-on learning, creativity, and community building.

The A51ºÚÁÏ District is pleased to announce Kristi Ferguson's appointment as the new Senior Manager of Communications and Community Relations, effective July 8, 2024. Kristi brings an extensive background in fundraising communications, particularly within the healthcare and community non-profit sectors, making her a valuable addition to our team.

In a continued commitment to supporting the educational success and cultural identity of Indigenous students, the A51ºÚÁÏ District has signed the 2025-2030 Enhancement Agreement for Indigenous Students. The signing took place during a luncheon event on June 17, 2024, attended by representatives from the Semáth First Nation, Mathxwí First Nation, Fraser Valley Métis Association, the Abbotsford Board of Education, and district leaders, staff, and students.
